Location Contest

April 26, 2010

As everyone knows, I tend to do most of my sessions on location, although I do have the option of setting up my studio in my home, as well as in a client’s home.  I am always on the lookout for new locations, so I thought I would run a contest to find new places to take some great photos.

I am especially looking for locations that include the following:

1. Fields with tall grass or wildflowers

2. Old broken down trucks or cars

3. Great rundown old buildings

4. Any building with a lot of texture on its walls

5. A place to be able to shoot indoors when it is raining that has some great walls, texture, etc.

Leave a comment here on the blog with your location ideas and if I use your location and like it, you will receive a $50 print credit.  At the end of the contest, I will choose my favorite location, and the person who suggested the location will receive a complimentary session and a mini accordian book in addition to the $50 print credit already received for providing me with a location I like.

The contest will be open until May 15th, so get those creative juices flowing.  You can comment as often as you like, so just send them in when you have an idea.

Katie and Avery were the first two to arrive at Country Village for some photos.  They were lucky and arrived before the rain came, so we were able to use a few of the locations that were not covered.  It was quite cold though, so we had to tell a few jokes and get moving around to get the girls loosened up.

If you like the clothes Katie and Avery are wearing, they are from Matilda Jane, a great boutique style clothing company.

Faith and Elijah also came to the event at Country Village in Bothell, and about the time they arrived, it started pouring down rain.  These kids were cold, but they were troopers and stuck it out so we could some fun pictures.

Recently, I put a call out to have a few children come and get their photos taken at one of my favorite locations wearing more boutique style clothing.  We had a great time, although it started raining after the first two girls, so we had to improvise on some of the locations.  Luckily, Country Village has some great covered areas, so we still got some great shots.

Sam and Lilly came to the event and we had a lot of fun getting some great photos.  They both are great at posing and could be models :)

Skagit Valley Tulips

April 24, 2010

Every year, I try to make it up to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival so I can take some great photos of beautiful flowers.  This year, I was able to go with my mom, my grandma, and my daughter on a girls trip.  The weather was cold, but the rain held off and we were able to enjoy the beautiful gardens and fields.
